The Ethiopia Ardi, represents the combined output of roughly 1500 small farmers of heirloom typica located throughout Sidama. Ripe coffee cherries are hand picked at farms ranging in altitude of 1850 to 1950 meters and transported to the town of Kilenso Mokonisa for processing and milling.
In the cup it's loaded with wild berries, sweet-floral notes, blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, a cocoa body, and hints of tobacco and cedar on the finish. Even the unroasted green coffee has an intense, fruity-sweet aroma! It is bar none one of the best natural/dry processed (DP) coffees we've ever purchased. We're hugely into DP Ethiopian coffees, and we're very happy to say that we're currently the first and only roaster in New Mexico to be offering the Ardi.
Generally speaking dry processed coffees have more body than wet-process or washed coffees due to the affect of the imparted fruit mucilage. Fruit notes and bright accents from the dried cherries add their own characteristics to the final cup. While not certified organic, this coffee is 100% naturally grown without chemicals or pesticides, as are almost all Ethiopian coffees by default thanks to the country's strict agricultural regulations.
